Where and when did your love for the bohemian lifestyle start?
I considered my “style” to be very Bohemian for quite sometime before this, but it was one year ago in India that I had a strong realization of what “bohemian lifestyle” meant to me. It took on a deeper meaning than describing one's clothing style, but more so how I wanted to live my life. That's when I began my blog, named Becoming Bohemian! To me, “Becoming Bohemian” represented my effort to live life to the fullest by going on adventures, meeting new people, learning new things, and becoming the best version of myself. I've never looked back since :) #becomingbohemian
As a traveler of the world, when did you take your first international trip and where did go?
My first international trip was to Canada! We didn't travel much as a family growing up, but I always had a very strong urge to do so. I knew one day it would become an important part of my life when I got older, and it has! Since I have been an adult, I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel internationally a handful of times, and much more to come!
As a storyteller, do you prefer blogging or vlogging?
Funny you ask! I could never choose just one way to express myself, so I do both and love both for different reasons! They are two totally different worlds and platforms. I have put the majority of my work thus far into blog posts. However, my followers have recently encouraged me to put out more videos, so I am happy to give that to them!
According to your newest Youtube video, you're a crafter about to launch a line November 1st with a store in Downtown Newnan. Can you tell us more about the line you're planning to create?
Yes! I have been working very hard at creating my decor collection of handcrafted and refurbished items that are meant to help your space have an eclectic, bohemian feel. I went with the color scheme of turquoise and burnt orange! I love those colors together and I think they are great colors for an end of fall /entering winter look. Those colors also make me think of my Arizona roots, of course! The piece I am most excited to showcase is a giant decorative chandelier, made of hundreds of hand-tied tassels. I cannot wait to show the world my new creations!
What are some challenges you hit at this point in your career and how do you navigate through them?
I consider one of my challenges to be my constants need for creativity, so much so that I want to take on too many projects to at once. You always hear about people who make one passion their focus for their entire life! They focus on that one thing so much, it becomes successful. I am not a one passion/one project type of girl. I've got my hands in all the baskets and I plan to make it all happen eventually. I am learning how to prioritize correctly so that I can get everything done that I hope to achieve. It's called a “multipotentialite”.
Where's your favorite place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city?
My home. I have recently moved into my dream apartment and I love being there! I go back and forth between being a homebody and being an adventure seeker. So while I am home, I love to craft, edit photos/videos, read, cook, write, take naps and cuddle my dog and my husband.
Let's dive into the future, describe your dreamlife?
Depends on which stage of my life! I have certain dreams for different portions. However, I leave room for the unknown and unexpected paths so I can go with the flow as each happens. But what I DO know is that I want to travel a ton with my husband! This includes a world grand voyage across the world - which is a four-month-long cruise around the world essentially. I want to be recording my journey along the way while building up my brand name by producing great content and eventually ecourses and ebooks.
Later plans, kids! My husband and I have strong financial goals of being financially independent while we raise our kids so that we can give them all the time in the world to teach and love them. These plans also include traveling the world in a renovated school bus with them!
After that, my dream home on a lakefront property where we can have a safe place for our kids and continually be inspired by our surroundings.
Discuss the importance of female friendships in your life.
I do not have a lot of true female friendships in my life, so the handful that I DO have are extra special! I've kept those friendships strong over the years because they are genuine, inspiring, supportive, loyal friendships worth keeping. They remind me of the friend I want to be for others. These ladies taught me how to be strong amidst trials, how to never stop fighting for the life you want, how to speak your mind and how to be kind patient and persevering. They are incredible.
Who are some of your greatest influences?
I am continually inspired and influenced by my older siblings! They are always following their dreams and developing their talents. It is extremely inspiring to see their futures unfold with success! We all try hard to support each other in our endeavors in whichever way we can.
If you could have dinner with any woman in history, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
I would choose Mother Teresa because of the work she accomplished was selfless and remarkable. She inspires me to help others in need. I loved getting to see where she did her work during my stay in India. I would absolutely love to meet her if I could.
What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for my husband and everything he is to me, my precious dog, my family, my creativity, my ability to express myself and pursue whatever my heart desires. I am grateful to God for being by my side and guiding me throughout my entire life.
Quote to live by:
“Make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt. So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.” ― Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild
